Year after year: To ensure that the roads remain free and accessible in the colder months, the preparations for winter services are already in full swing. The gritting vehicles and snow plows are ready and waiting to be used. In order to know if and where ice is forming on the streets, the employees of the municipal companies have to carry out inspection drives regularly in order to check the streets for possible slickness. t-matix offers a solution for this! Together with our partner R&R Kommunal, expert for road sensors, a sensor is installed at critical points in the asphalt or the road surface, which sends the necessary data to the t-matix IoT platform. Employees can use the app and the portal to determine the road temperature, type of precipitation and friction values and are alerted to the formation of ice if a predefined limit value is not reached. In this way, time-consuming inspection drives can be avoided and traffic accidents can even be prevented by taking targeted countermeasures on slippery roads and ice. This solution is offered to cities and municipalities by t-matix with the “Winter Service” module, which is now also available in the Smart City Ecosystem of Magenta Business and is already used in the city of Deutschlandsberg.
