WienIT is a 100% subsidiary and the central IT & Business Partner of Wiener Stadtwerke. In a multi-stage selection process, t-matix and its partner Magenta Business won the tender for the platform of the new IoT ecosystem of the City of Vienna.

“For the City of Vienna, being fit for the 21st century is a top priority. For Wiener Stadtwerke, this means being a pioneer in all areas that pave the way to the Smart City. The optimal linking of different forms of mobility via app is just as much a part of this as the establishment of smart electricity meters and grids,” says Peter Weinelt, Deputy General Manager responsible for Wiener Stadtwerke.

The t-matix IoT platform serves here as a central system for the creation of IoT applications and ranges from system monitoring of trams as well as lubrication equipment to intelligent winter road maintenance and monitoring of photovoltaic systems.

Magenta Telekom acts as a technology partner and supports the development and implementation of the applications. “I am delighted that we can now use our many years of expertise in networking to further advance digitalization as a partner of Wiener Stadtwerke and thus consolidate the pioneering role of the City of Vienna in the Smart City sector,” says Maria Zesch, CCO Business & Digitalization at Magenta Telekom.

With the IoT ecosystem, it will be possible in the future to be more efficient in many areas and thus save costs. Likewise, processes will be made even more secure than before and new services will be made possible for the people of Vienna.
